Brush Script Lettering Workshop

Led by The Letterettes

The Letterettes, a lettering quartet, is Carla Hackett, Kate Pullen, Eliza Svikulis and Wanissa Somsuphangsri—all well-known in Melbourne lettering scene. Last weekend they’ve ran their first workshop series at local West Elm stores.

The workshop on Chapel Street was led by Carla (how about some cats and Taylor Swift, ey?) and Wanissa.

Lettering samples

The main theme of the workshop was preparing Valentine’s Day cards—Carla and Wanissa brought a few examples for inspiration.

All participants were effectively introduced to basics of brush lettering and supplied with professional pens and brushes. One could almost immediately spot the results!

Both ladies individually assisted all attendees to make sure they got a good grip on brush stroke techniques.

All in all, it was an intensive 3-hour introduction to brush lettering with immediate improvement in skill, even for complete beginners. If you’re interested in trying it out, for future events make sure you follow the lettering band on Instagram or simply book them.
